Last year, we were approached by a one-man urban reforestation committee, Vikas Narula. Vikas started and to date remains the sole volunteer staff member of Neighborhood Forest.

Driven by a personal environmental ethic, Vikas talks places like the Wedge into sponsoring the purchase of hundreds of tiny saplings for distribution at area primary schools. (Parents do have to agree to this!) Vikas then provides not only the trees but detailed information about where and how to plant and nurture them so they'll help build the neighborhood forest he wants to see.

The 2011 trees were distributed at Kenwood School the morning of April 20. Even though we had snow - it's really just white rain at this point in the season. Checkout the happy faces.
