Get Ready to Walk for Celiac Disease

Share

Strap on your shoes and come hungry! The Walk for Celiac Disease in the Twin Cities is on Saturday, May 21st! Every year hundreds of people gather at Boom Island in Minneapolis to take part in this great family event that not only raises money for celiac research, but also raises awareness about the disease itself.

The walk takes us three miles along the Mississippi River. During the event, several companies will be offering their wonderful gluten-free products to try or to buy. We will also have fun for the kids and information on various support groups, camp and a new golf tournament that will be held later this year. And you will want to check out our raffle prizes including an autographed Vikings jersey and a football signed by Oakland Raiders' quarterback Rich Gannon.

Registration is free for the walk, but we encourage you to collect pledges to raise money for research. Funds raised will go to the University of Maryland Baltimore's Center for Celiac Research. Please feel free to bring extra money to buy food from vendors or to purchase a t-shirt. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Boom Island in Minneapolis and the walk begins at 10:00. For more information, look for walk brochures at your Twin Cities Co-op or to download registration and pledge forms go to www.celiacwalk.org.
