Attention Wedge Members!

Wedge Members, have you ever tried to explain the Wedge member-owner register discounts to a friend who is not a Wedge member? You know, the "three 10% discounts that cap out at $2.50 each, usable for two month periods that start with the even-numbered months" discount. Kind of a mouthful. Staff members have to say it several times per shift and watch as people who are thinking about joining try to take it in. Once you are in the swing of things as a member, you realize it is pretty easy. It's the 'splainin' that gets awkward.

Another concern is that members who do not spend $25 a pop do not get to use the discount benefit in full. Members who shop French style (shopping daily for the dinner groceries) may spend as much as members who shop once a week for larger quantities, but may have not been able to get the full $45/year discount.

We have some good news for you, Wedge members. Starting July 1, 2010 we are going to deliver your discounts at the register in a way that allows more members to get the full advantage of that benefit. The fact that it is also easier to explain is gravy.

Replacing the current system of three 10 percent discounts on purchases up to $25 during each newsletter period, you will get one discount of $3.75 loaded into your member account on the first of every month. It still adds up to $45 in potential savings every year.

On the first of every month the register will have a discount of $3.75. If you buy $10 of product on your first trip to the Wedge in a month, you can use the discount for $1.00 off the purchase. The remaining $2.75 discount remains in your account for the next shopping trip. Those members who shop frequently for small amounts can use the discount multiple times until it is used in full each month.

In addition, the discount will not vanish if you fail to shop during a month. Say you win a prize trip to the Bahamas for the whole month of February. Your February discount will still be in the system when you come back in March needing to fill up the pantry again. Unused discounts will roll over until the end of each fiscal year, June 30, at which time the member accounts will start over for the year.
