This April 22 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, which begs the question, what does the event that gave birth to the modern environmental movement mean anymore? The first Earth Day was intended to build awareness of the finite resources on the Earth and to promote conservation. Simply put: let's not destroy that which we all depend on.
It quickly became clear that more than one day a year would be needed to celebrate and protect this big rock we call home. Thus was born the saying, "Every day is Earth Day."
So how do we actually apply that saying as modern, urban Twin Cities citizens? I've got a very simple and super local answer to that question: Blue Sky Guide.
For context, I'm one of four local people who create and produce what we consider the perfect resource for living green in the Twin Cities. At the core of Blue Sky Guide is the belief that we can easily live a conscious, green life and save money at the same time. Packed full of resources and coupons for local, sustainable businesses, services and products, Blue Sky Guide offers hundreds of dollars in savings on co-op shopping, dining out, gardening, home repairs, arts and much more.
