Though I am not a "raw-foodist," I was offended by the condescending and sanctimonious tone of Wendy Gordon's article on raw foods ("The Raw Food Diet," June/July Newsletter). Wendy Gordon is not from Minneapolis, but I would have expected the publishers of the Wedge Newsletter to be familiar with its neighbor the Ecopolitan restaurant and to have sampled its delicious and wide array of cuisine. Gordon's assertion that raw foods are "terribly limiting" and her admission that "I don't doubt that you can get very inventive with raw foods" shows that she has very little experience with raw foods. The meals I've had at the Ecopolitan have been some of the most savory and truly gourmet dishes I've had, the juxtaposition of natural flavors creating entirely new and unexpected flavors. Though I appreciate her insights into the possible nutritional limitations of such a diet, I think her tone was pedantic and completely out-of-place in the Wedge newsletter.
