Paper boxes, while good for some items, are a poor choice for others, and the ones best suited for hot food are costly, bleached, and wax or plastic coated. The containers we use are the best choice for right now. We are always open to finding a more perfect solution, i.e. recyclable plastic. -Stephen, Kitchen manager
I wonder that myself. Grainfield's is no longer carried by any of our distributors. Barbara's has a fruit-juice sweetened corn flake, as does Nature's Path. Really - all new cereals coming to the market are being manufactured with sugar, and the word is: they all out-sell Barbara's fruit-juice sweetened flakes 3 or 4 to one. -Fern, Purchasing Manager
First of all, thank you both for the compliments - I agree that Kadejan is an excellent turkey. As far as the "frozen" issue: These turkeys were processed only 2-3 days before being sold. They were stored at 30-32 degrees F for food safety reasons. They were never frozen solid. "Fresh" implies time elapsed between processing and reaching your table. As far as "paying top dollar:" Our free-range, hormone- and antibiotic - free, air-chilled birds were priced at or below our competitors - I personally did comparison shopping. The turkeys sold at Wal-mart for .79/lb were probably processed several months ago and stored at a frozen warehouse at 20 degrees F - not to mention loaded with hormones, antibiotics, and water. -John, Meat and Seafood Manager
