Following are some ways that members of The Wedge can be involved at Harvest Moon. We have lots of opportunities currently and throughout the spring and summer. Thanks again for your continued support of Harvest Moon!

Construction and Repair
- Build shelves in the loft to hold supplies.
- Build a storage box for sandbox toys.
- Build several storage boxes that blend into the environment that can hold birdseed and corn. These will be placed near feeders and on the nature trail.
Animal Care
- Clean the barn and bring to compost pile.
Gardening and Yard Work
- Develop the nature trail. Harvest Moon has a basic nature trail established and is looking for a volunteer to develop learning stations along the trail. The volunteer can do any number of things to enhance the trail: plant trees and bushes to attract wildlife; create informational signs; build and install benches; create different bird feeders and houses; and create water- and weather-proof containers to hold learning materials at each station. Great group project!
- Plant and decorate different garden vignettes that children can discover and enjoy. (This is a spring/summer opportunity.)
- Assist with spring planting of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. (This is a spring/summer opportunity.)
- Create a windbreak by transplanting evergreens. (This is a spring/summer opportunity.)
Lesson and Discovery Station Preparation
- Work on the nature trail: transplant trees, make signs, make feeders and shelters, create water sources, repair fencing, make benches, and create activity/exploration bins for some of the stations.
- Ensure that all the supplies and materials are in each of the Discovery Station activity bins.
- Sort through supplies that we need and don't need for the summer program. For the items we don't need, price and package them for a spring barn sale/fundraiser.
Administrative
- Update and maintain Harvest Moon's database.
- Develop or assist in the development of a fund raising plan, including corporate and foundation support, a membership drive, and a contributions' drive. Write direct mail letters, create fliers and other pieces. Research potential donors, and assist with the preparation of mailings. Average hrs. per week 4-6. Need someone who has a writing or fundraising background. Position can be off site.
- Write and distribute press releases.
