Giving Back to the Community in 2007
Wedge Co-op Donations Committee Recipients 2007
The Wedge Donations Committee gives a limited number of $50.00 gift certificates to organizations that are coop related, food related, focused on the environment and in the neighborhood served by the Wedge. Donations are limited to one per organization in a calendar year. Requests must be made in writing, on organizational letterhead, at least eight weeks before needed.

Green Patch Recipients
Green Patches are given to customers at the cash register who bring their own bags for packing groceries. Each Green Patch is worth five cents. On a quarterly basis, proceeds are donated by the Wedge to a community garden. The total of $7349.25 reflects the use of 146,985 recycled bags.

Food Shelf Donations
Last year Wedge customers donated $15,420.48 at the checkout cash registers for area food shelves, during the period of Jan. 1, 2007 - Dec. 31, 2007. Of which $7,785.54 went to purchase food at wholesale, and the remaining was dispersed as cash to the following organizations:
- Emergency Foodshelf Network: $1,583.65
- Groveland Emergency Foodshelf: $1,580
- Joyce Emergency Foodshelf :$1,580
- Sabathani Foodshelf: $1,580
- Minnesota Food Share: $1,311.29
In addition, the Wedge donated an additional $14,866.72 of food items to local food shelves, calculated at wholesale, not including our fourth quarter.
WedgeShare Recipients
Each year the Wedge philanthropic Wedgeshare grant program donates a portion of profits to organizations who apply. In October, the membership voted to allocate the fund to the following organizations:
