Midwest Food Connection Launches Website

You know that your patronage and membership at the Wedge Co-op not only grows a successful business, but also supports activities that are a powerful force for health and well-being in our community. If you need quick proof of this, spend five minutes at the dynamic website of the Midwest Food Connection (MFC): www.midwestfoodconnection.org. Every year the Wedge contributes nearly $30,000 dollars to this educational non-profit that sends skilled teachers into our elementary schools. In 2005-06, MFC reached 7,680 children at 58 schools! On the website you can see children enjoying healthful food, or browse through summaries of lessons such as "Global Fruits and Potatoes, More than Fries." There is also a media packet and instructions on booking the organization for a classroom visit. The website quotes a fee for these lessons, but - thanks to your support - in the schools near the Wedge and other sponsoring co-ops there is no charge!
