Join an Eco-Friendly Urban Community
The Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation (GMHC), a nonprofit developer, announces the completion of The Main Street Bungalow Court, located at 810-820 Main St NE, Minneapolis. This environmentally conscious intentional community features six brand new Urban Green homes in the historic St. Anthony West Neighborhood.
This new prototype for Urban Green homes is based on the traditional Bungalow Court concept of single-family homes surrounding a central courtyard to foster a sense of community. The project was creatively designed for better use of land and natural resources that reduces waste while allowing each household a freestanding home with sunlight and natural breezes entering from all four sides. These six for-sale homes are set in a landscape of native plantings, have a rain garden to reduce rainwater run-off and place residents within walking distance to major urban amenities and services. The Main Street Bungalow Court has received the highest Energy Star rating, Five Stars Plus, as certified by the Neighbor Energy Consortium (NEC).
The project was designed from the outset to use Green and Sustainable materials and where possible, locally made products like natural quartz countertops.
