Valentine's chocolate ganache

For the last 16 years, Mark of Produce has spent the Sunday before Valentine's Day out on the floor, dipping fresh fruit into melted chocolate for customers to enjoy. This year, it was so popular that requests for the recipe have been flooding in right and left. So we asked our deli baker Gary just what he did to make that chocolate sauce so darn delicious. Here now is his recipe for you to try at home or share with all your loved ones this February 14.

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz good dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao)

  1. Chop up chocolate if it's in bar form. If it's in chip form, you're ready to go!
  2. Pour the cream into a saucepan and put over medium-high heat
  3. When cream has just come to a simmer, turn off the heat
  4. Add the chocolate and stir until it has completely melted
  5. Dip away!

If you're feeling adventurous, add a few tablespoons of orange or raspberry liqueur at the end for an extra burst of flavor
