What's New in Sustainability at the Wedge

Have you noticed anything different about the Wedge dairy cooler and freezer doors lately? The colors just pop and the milk bottles look like we've spent hours polishing them to a high gloss.

We replaced the old fluorescent bulbs in dairy cooler doors, at the end of Aisle One, and the freezer doors in the last aisle, with LED bulbs. LED bulbs have much higher energy efficiency (68% over fluorescent bulbs) and will reduce our energy bills. LEDs do not require expensive ballasts, which burn out every few years and have to be replaced and recycled.

Take a closer look at the cooler doors next time you are in. This is just one of the ways your co-op is pressing forward as we strive for ever deeper sustainability in our business practices.
